SUBLIME WITH ROME
EXCLUSIVE SIX-DATE THEATER TOUR

BEGINS 4/20 AT HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM IN LOS ANGELES
TICKET PRE-SALES START MARCH 2nd!

Los Angeles, CA – February 25, 2010 – Founding members of Sublime, drummer Bud Gaugh and bass player Eric Wilson have announced after 14-years they will officially take to the stage once again; with new frontman, singer/guitarist Rome. Dubbed Sublime with Rome, the group will reintroduce themselves and Sublime’s music to fans across the country with an exclusive six-date intimate theater tour beginning 4/20/10 in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium. Ticket presales for all shows begin March 2nd, please visit www.SublimeWithRome.com for details.

“To go back out on the road and play this music again is a gift. We want to celebrate the music and share the experience for not only our fans, but also for ourselves. It’s been 14-years and is long overdue,” said Gaugh.

Stated Wilson, “Many of our songs have never been performed live, most notably our self-titled release. Songs such as ‘April 26, 1992,’ ‘Under My Voodoo,’ ‘Burritos’ and even ‘What I Got’ will all get their proper stage debuts.”

“This tour will be full of surprises,” said Gaugh. “Sublime has never used a set list. We will be performing songs off every album and will mix it up from show to show, never delivering the same set twice. We’ve also been working on some new material and have put together a couple of songs with Rome. We’re excited to introduce them, and Rome, to all our fans.”

Rome, a 21-year-old northern California native, was introduced to Gaugh and Wilson in 2008. Last year, a handful of jam sessions led to an impromptu show at a small club in Nevada flooring a packed-house crowd. The trio later performed a one-off at the Smokeout Festival last fall and was a surprise special guest at the infamous KROQ Acoustic Christmas show, before officially announcing themselves as Sublime with Rome. Currently, the new hit single “Lay Me Down” by the Dirty Heads (co-written by and featuring Rome) is racing up the radio charts across the U.S.

Portions of the proceeds from the shows will go to benefit an addiction recovery program currently being developed to financially assist underprivileged teens and adolescents, in honor of Sublime’s fallen singer/songwriter Bradley Nowell, who succumbed to his own addiction when he passed away in May 1996.

“Sublime has so many fans and attracts new fans every year who were never able to see Sublime perform live after Bradley passed away,” said Troy Nowell-Holmes. “One of the inspirations for forming ‘Sublime with Rome’ was to bring Brad’s spirit in his music back to the fans and to give the new fans a glimpse of what it was like to see Sublime live.”

One of the most notable and successful ska-punk bands of all time, Sublime has sold over 17 million albums worldwide with the group’s music remaining in constant radio rotation across the country. Influential Los Angeles rock radio station KROQ has listed Sublime as the #3 act in their annual “biggest bands” list for the last six years in a row with the single “Date Rape” ranking as the all-time most requested song at the station. To this day, the group’s multi-platinum landmark debut album “40oz. to Freedom,” lo-fi follow up “Robbin’ the Hood,” and multi-platinum self-titled major label debut (a virtual greatest hits set in itself) are all widely regarded as music collection staples. Formed in Long Beach in 1988, Sublime’s final performance was in the spring of 1996.

Fri 2/26: Backyard Tire Fire, Swollen Members and more

Posted by on Feb 26, 2010 in Daily Update | Comments Off on Fri 2/26: Backyard Tire Fire, Swollen Members and more

There’s a lot of music going on tonight so pick your spot and have fun!

Sandbar in Vail has Back Yard Tire Fire. a Bloomington, Illinois band that has worked the national circuit tirelessly, sharing stages with fellow-travelers Cracker, the Reverend Horton Heat, Govt. Mule, Alejandro Escovedo, James McMurtry and Los Lobos. Illinois State grad and Edwards resident Colleen Carey says this band is a can’t miss. The show is part of a KZYR listener appreciation party.

Three20South has Signal Path who are back from hiatus. With almost two years since their last major tour, fans find the band producing a sound that has become more mature, authoritative, and immense. While still blending both live instrumentation and computer generated production, Signal Path is creating some of the most progressive music in their history. Originally a duo, Signal Path comes full circle with Ryan Burnett producing and playing guitar and Damon Metzner on the acoustic drums. This configuration allows the sound to become focused, spontaneous, and rich.

Ghost Ranch Saloon in Steamboat has Hip-Hop band Swollen Members who just played a show in Avon that received excellent reviews from a packed house. They are touring in support of a new album and a celebration of life after a serious battle with drug addiction from their lead singer.

Don’t forget about Frogs Gone Fishin’s last show at Finnegan’s in Avon. FGF will be playing for free tonight before they set off on a national tour in support of their new studio release. Frogs Gone Fishin’ always engages the crowd and makes them dance and have fun with their funky brand of rock and roll. You never know what you might get as they always add a great mix of covers along with their funky originals. There are sure to be lots of special guests tonight.

For your DJ set, Samana Lounge in Vail Village will have Hal and Miah and as always, drinks are 2 for 1 before 10pm.

The week ahead: Bassnectar, New Mastersounds, Great American Taxi, Midnite, Trombone Shorty

Posted by on Feb 23, 2010 in Daily Update | Comments Off on The week ahead: Bassnectar, New Mastersounds, Great American Taxi, Midnite, Trombone Shorty

This week… Spring skiing conditions mixed with 100% chance of some of the best music the mountains has seen in months! That’s a better job with the forecast than the meteorologists have been doing this year. The biggest event is definitely the Furthur shows in Broomfield, but you don’t have to leave the mountains to see some unbelievably great music.

Here’s a sampling of some of the best events in the upcoming week:

Steamboat’s Ghost Ranch Saloon has The Tony Furtado Band (Sat Mar 6) and Trombone Shorty (Sun Mar 7).

Breckenridge’s Three20South has Swollen Members (tonight), Whitewater Ramble with Steve Molitz of Particle and Phil Lesh and Friends performing a jamgrass tribute to the Grateful Dead (Wed Mar 3) and Midnite (Sun Mar 7).

Agave in Avon has Grayson Capps (Tues Mar 2) and New Mastersounds with Salvador Santana (Fri Mar 5).

Finnegan’s in Avon will host Papadosio (Fri Mar 5).

Sandbar in West Vail has Whitewater Ramble (Thurs Mar 4) and Guru with Jazzmatazz (Fri Mar 5).

Vail’s Samana Lounge lineup includes Great American Taxi (Wed Mar 3), Bassnectar (Thurs Mar 4) and Lubriphonic (Sun Mar 7).

Free shows include The Mother Hips on Wednesday in Vail and Lubriphonic on Saturday in Winter Park.

FGF is going on tour… say goodbye at Finnegan’s

This year’s final Stereo Assassins and FGF shows this week at Finnegan’s

Well it’s probably not the last shows of 2010, but since the calendar in most of our heads goes by ski seasons, these are the last shows of the year.

Here’s the skinny… tonight, Stereo Assassins play their last funk party at Finnegan’s in Avon. It seems like it all went so quickly, but what started out as Jenna’s Birthday Band in October has exploded many people’s favorite night of the week in the Vail Valley. Every Tuesday since then, members of Frogs Gone Fishin’, Laughing Bones and Velcro Sneakers have gotten together and won over hundreds of locals who come out to dance, drink and have a good time. And no joke, somehow each week brings a steady ratio of girls and guys, something absolutely unheard of in a ski town. I attribute it to the fact that they lay down some of the funkiest licks around covering all of your favorite songs and even adding in some new ones like their soon to be legendary funky brownies. Oh wait, the legendary funky brownies are at New Hope Wellness in Edwards, where they have some of the best medicine to smoke or eat in the state (shameless plug for our calendar sponsor). Oh, and that good-looking Ben Koelker guy definitely doesn’t hurt – he’s single ladies so head down to Finnegans and dance in the front row for him.

Then, on Friday the 26th, Frogs Gone Fishin’ takes the same stage and plays their final show before embarking on a national tour taking them to places like Chicago, St. Louis, Illinois and of course the music mecca of Iowa. Their tour will end up in April in New Orleans… see you at JazzFest!!!!

There will be more on FGF on Friday, but for now I urge you to stop by Finnegan’s tonight and have some fun.

Festivals this summer at Rancho Del Rio

Posted by on Feb 22, 2010 in Breaking News | Comments Off on Festivals this summer at Rancho Del Rio

Ranch Del Rio, the sleepy rafting community on the Colorado River just above State Bridge will be hosting at least 2 festivals this summer.

Starting off the festival season on Memorial Day Weekend, Campout for a Cause will return to the same great spot where it was held in last year’s innaugeral year. This is one of the best smaller festivals and has a mellow Colorado feel that makes it hard to compete with. Co-headlining the festival are Colorado favorites Bonfire Dub and Elephant Revival. Other bands include Shakedown Street, Frogs Gone Fishin and Laughing Bones.

Also, making a comeback and enjoying their new home, Realm of Caring Festival is back for 2010. You might remember the Realm Fest from it’s old spot in Newcastle, which was put on last in 2008.

Both festivals support local non-profit The Realm of Caring and Campout for a Cause all supports Central America Foundation. The mission of the Central America Foundation is to provide school and medical supplies, medical training, new or renovated community buildings, and to assist locals with programs supporting their heritage and financial independence. Changing lives and communities one day at a time, CAF aspires to assist those in need in Central America (www.cafoundation.org). The Realm of Caring was founded to assist local school children in the pursuit of music and music education. With an extraordinary amount of musical programs being cut from local school budgets, the Realm of Caring seeks to deliver a musical experience to any child that desires one.

Details are still rolling in for both festivals so check back often for bands for both of Rancho’s 2010 festivals.
